"God Bless
the USA"

(Sometimes called "I'm Proud to be An American.")

It's been a long, long time since we've had a song that inspired our patriotism.
The United States needed a song to heal us
from Viet Nam and restore the American spirit and pride. I truly feel this song has accomplished
that and in my humble opinion deserves the "Congressional Medal of Honor" just as the song
by George Cohan "Over There" won years ago.

So feel free to sing along...
after all, freedom is what this country is about!

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free.
And, I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me.
And I'll gladly stand up (!)
next to you
and defend her still today.
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...
God Bless the U.S.A.!

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea,
from Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And, I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me.
And, I'll gladly stand up (!)
next to you
and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...
God Bless the U.S.A!!  :)

We are linked under Song Lyrics for "God Bless the USA" for both the Republican Convention (BUSH) and Democratic convention (GORE). Since I can't do two links, I chose the most current. It doesn't reflect any political preference on my part.
We were the very first "God Bless the USA"

After 9-11-2001, well, there are a zillion.
Thanks for your dedication!
