O say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming? performed at  Super Bowl 25 in 1991. 
For those who remember, this was during the Gulf War.  And, patriotism (like today) was feverish.  It is believed to be the reason Whitney sang this song with such intense feeling and quality. Many still consider hers as  the best version out so far.
