Festivus first became known to all of us back in 1997 when it first aired
on "Seinfeld." It is a holiday that goes against traditional
Christmas commercialism, gift-giving and the Christmas tree. In other
words, it's the Anti-Christmas holiday on a secular level (not religious).
The basic symbol is the aluminum pole (undecorated!), along with the meal
of either turkey or spaghetti and a cake with the top decorated in
M&Ms. There is also the "Airing of Grievances" at this meal
as well. Followed by a "Feats of Strength" which is a wrestling
match. Festivus is celebrated annually December 23. So, in honor of this
newly-celebrated observance, I've created some fun products in my
Zazzle store for you to help enjoy the season. :D Click
The term "Chrismukkah" began back in 2003 on a
television show called "The O.C." It can be interpreted as (1)
the blending of Christmas and Hanukkah during the holiday season in homes
where one is Jewish and one is of Christian Protestant faith. It's a way
to celebrate both sides of a Jew & Gentile family and not hurt
feelings by leaving the other one out. (2) Or, it is a celebration of
Christmas by those who are Jewish. ..... So, I've made some designs that
blend both the Jewish symbols and Christmas symbols for this blended
observance. These are all new and I'm not done making
products. But here is a link to the area as they are being made. Click
Here. Note: There is no specific day because Hanukkah floats annually. But
many of duo-faith say December 25 is their Chrismukkah date.
