Our Midi Title = "I'll Be Home For Christmas"
Want to sing along? Here are the lyrics:
|
I'm
dreaming tonight of a place I love,
Even more than I usually do.
And, although I know it's a long road back,
I promise you...
I'll
be home for Christmas,
You can count on me.
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree.
Christmas
Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams,
I'll be home for Christmas,
If only in my dreams.
|
The
song was written by Kim Gannon (lyrics) born in Brooklyn, NY.
The music was written by Walter Kent, born in Manhattan, NY.
It song captured the hearts of the world in 1943 as the wartime Christmas song
on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Bing Crosby originally recorded it
with his soft, soothing voice.
Later on, the popularity of the song spread through a new generation with
Elvis Presley recording it. And, today it is considered a soldier's
Christmas theme song, recorded by many artists in all musical varieties and
sung among soldiers themselves during the holiday season.
