Full Moon

Last Qtr.

New Moon

 6:48  pm

The full moon on the 9th  this year is also the "Harvest Moon" because it is the full moon that is nearest the autumnal equinox extends the hours of light into evening and helps the harvester with a long day's work.

Full Moon on  the 9th  is called "Hunter's Moon" by Native Americans of New England and the Great Lakes because at this time of the year the deer are fattened and it's time to hunt (as well as many other animals.)  Since all the crops are harvested, it's now time to gather food by hunting animals.

October 25 there will be a partical eclipse of the sun, which can't be seen in N. America. But it is visible in Greenland, Iceland, Euriope, northeastern Africa, the Middle East, western Asia, India and western China.
