JoeJoe
Bear Foundation
This
is a charity started by The Joe Joe Bear Foundation was created in memory of
Joseph David Ordaz who passed away on March 10, 2009 from Acute Lymphocytic
Leukemia. They collect new teddy bears for children with cancer and other life
threatening illnesses and then deliver them to local hospitals. These bears
are for the children to hold when they are scared and lonely since their
families may not be able to be with them 24/7.
All of our bears need to be new due to the fact that these
children may have weakened or no immune systems as a result of the treatment
or from their illness itself.
Bubba's Bears
This
is a charity started by Kathleen Evertsen, in memory of her son Alexander, who
died on March 16, 2006 of Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia.
Alex was only 6 1/2 weeks old. Their mission is to provide teddy bears
(through donations) to every child undergoing heart surgery; and/or, to the
parents or siblings of the child as comfort.
Victory Junction Gang!
This
is a camp for kids with many different kinds of illnesses. It is located in
North Carolina and was started by Kyle and Pattie Petty, and Paul Newman. How
is a camp for kids started by racing fans connected with teddy bears? While at
the camp, each child receives a handmade quilt and a home-made stuffed teddy
bear. If you would like to make a quilt or teddy bear or donate money, click
the graphic link above.
Good Bears of the World -
This is a
Canadian organization that brings teddy bears to sick people in the hospital.
Their description is rather long so it's best to just click to their page and
read further.
Bears
Anonymous -
This is a
private organization out of North Carolina that not only gives a teddy bear to
a sick child in the hospital ( as a hug replacement due to some rules) but
also performs a puppet show. For further details, click the icon link.
Constable
Teddy - (aka Bears On Board)
"The Constable Teddy
Program's goal is to have a bear (and/or children's books) in the back of
every Constable's patrol car. These bears will be offered to children during
situations of domestic violence, car accidents and other similar situations.
For a child, these bears will hopefully give them something to hold onto in
those times of emotional crisis."
This program is based
in Louisiana and run by Pamela Speight. To read more about this charity and to
