Our Midi is "We Need A Little Christmas"
Written by Jerry Herman.

This is the only Christmas song originally composed for a Broadway musical
and has gained popularity annually with the public. It was originally a quartette sung by Angela Lansbury and her fellow actors Frankie Michaels, Jane Connell and Sab Shimono.
Mame premiered in 1966 and is based on a novel by Patrick Dennis. When turned into a play, it had a London version starring Ginger Rogers and then a 1974 film version starring Lucille Ball.   In the storyline a desperate mood overcomes everyone when the stock market crashes and there is financial disaster everywhere.  Even though it's right after Thanksgiving, Mame declares that the are in dire need of a "little Christmas spirit, right this very minute."
And so here are the lyrics of the song:

Haul out the holly,
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again,
Fill up the stocking,
I may be rushing things but deck the halls again again now.

(Chorus)
For we need a little Christmas,
Right this very minute,
Candles in the window,
Carols at the spinet.
Yes, we need a little Christmas,
Right this very minute.
It hasn't snowed a single flurry,
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry.

So climb down the chimney,
Turn on the brightest string of lights I've ever seen.
Slice up the fruitcake,
It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough.
For I've grown a little leaner,
Grown a Little colder,
Grown a little sadder,
Grown a little older.
And I need a little angel,
Sitting on my shoulder,
Yes, I need a little Christmas now!

(Repeat Chorus)
